The Philippines
The Philippines has had a turbulent history which has produced a mixed race of people who are resilient, flexible and hospitable. It is a colourful country, the land and seas are filled with every shade and pattern imaginable, which is reflected in the peoples character and dress. Although they have been invaded and conquered many times, they are still a very distinct race, a proud people with their own special childlike enjoyment of the simple things in life.
There are several native languages spoken, each with its roots in the local traditional language, though all have been influenced by the Spanish. Due to the difficulties that occur in a country that speaks many different languages, English is now widely used.
